GREATER SUSQUEHANNA KEYSTONE INNOVATION ZONE - INTERNSHIP SUPPORT GRANT**
Internships – Real Work Experience
Because the Greater Susquehanna Keystone Innovation Zone (GSKIZ) has strong partnership support from Bloomsburg University, Bucknell University and Susquehanna University, the GSKIZ can provide grant dollars to qualified clients to help pay a student intern.  The GSKIZ Internship Support Grant will reimburse a company or university up to $2,000.00 per student per semester from any of the partner institutions pending the availability of funds.  The internship limit per KIZ Company is two (2) intern students per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).

Who is eligible for the GSKIZ Internship Support Grant?
Any entrepreneur, start-up company or early stage business (8 years old or less) who is physically located in any of the defined zones of the GSKIZ and falls into one of the approved industry sectors that are allowed by the Commonwealth of PA under the KIZ program parameters.  If you are unsure as to whether or not your company meets those requirements please contact the GSKIZ Director for clarification.

How does the GSKIZ Internship Grant Work?
Job Description Development:  KIZ Client develops a job description/project scope including skill sets needed, pay rate, number of hours to work per week, and length of project.
Job Promotion: KIZ Director will assist client by contacting one of our partner universities according to location of company and discipline for position needed to promote the position.
Interview: KIZ Client will hold interviews with the pool of student candidates and select who they feel is the best for the position.
Internship/Grant Reimbursement:  The reimbursement policy may differ according to each university and whether or not faculty advising/supervision is necessary for the project or particular job.  The College or University may be reimbursed directly when a faculty member is overseeing the project and the university partner will oversee the performance of the student and the completion of the project.    When the KIZ Client has ample supervision for the students and can provide ample training and guidance the KIZ Client will provide the GSKIZ Director with an invoice and copies of payroll information for the student on an agreed upon basis.  The GSKIZ will reimburse the client up to $2,000.00 for that intern.  This reimbursement is contingent upon available funding.

Final Internship Report:  Reimbursement will not be provided until the student and employer evaluation forms are submitted and a summary of the final project is provided.

Advantages for KIZ Clients
